A quick peek at our Christmas decorations.
Old and new ornaments on the tree, crowned by a beautiful fairy, who is even older than me! She looks so lovely in her new dress.
Candle and fire light reflected around the living room.
Christmassy scents and sights in the kitchen.
James decorated his own room. He made the wonderful ribbon wreath at Croileagan (play school) and he set up the Nativity scene on his window ledge all by himself. I love how the dolphin was there.
But right now, he is very interested in our latest decoration. I wonder how long it will last?
Wishing you all blessings of light and warmth in this, the week before Christmas
When I was small, my grandparents had a gingerbread house that they would drag out every Christmas and every Christmas, like clockwork, I would try to eat it.
ReplyDeleteIt finally dawned on me when I was about seven that it was the same gingerbread house every year and that it probably tasted disgusting by that time.
I don't know what happened to it...I don't remember seeing it after they moved into their new house. It probably broke during the move. Or someone ate it (I swear it wasn't me!).
Okay, those birds/ chickens with the Joy sign really made me Laugh out loud.....too cute!
ReplyDeleteI really love the last photo, he looks so happy and peaceful. He has such a beautiful energy:))
Lovely decorations....this post made me smile. Thank you! Barefoot mama
Your house looks so beautifully Christmassy - I can smell the clove-studded oranges! I love the last photo too. I hope you will let him have a piece, at some point?
ReplyDeleteThink I'd be VERY interested in that delicious looking latest decoration too! YUM!!
ReplyDeleteKatie
How warm and inviting! Last year my youngest gobbled up our gingerbread house bit by bit.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful, cosy photos. I've been thinking of you lately what with all the windy weather you've had up there. I hope it has settled now and no damage was done. xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI cant believe anyone else has the twin of our fairy. Although yours has been very well brought up to date!
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqui, Love your decorations, especially the gingerbread house, did you make it? Julie x
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful! And how tempting that wee house must be... :)
ReplyDeleteYour gingerbread house lasted long enough for a photo, so that is quite long. You have a lovely holiday decorated home.
ReplyDeletefabulous, i can't choose my favourite...although i might possibly side with james x x
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so festive and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad James was able to get a gingerbread house and I hope he enjoys every bite of it!
xx
Jacqui, how beautifully festive your home looks. Our gingerbread house was promptly nibbled before any photos. Oh, well. It was greatly enjoyed :)
ReplyDeleteRenee Ann - lol- my mother kept a couple of chocolate bell decorations for years too. I often wonder what happened to them.
ReplyDeleteBM - thank you. The robins are new this year and are very jolly, even if they do keep falling over
Christine, Katie, PMand Sarah - the house already has a couple of odd bits missing :-)
Julie - no I didn't make it. I have a very poor track record of gingerbread house assembly. James has had his eye on this in the delicatessen for several weeks.
Pippa - hi! We are fine, thanks Hope you are keeping warm too.
Jill - how wonderful! This was my mother's fairy and she used to have a blue tulle dress. She hadn't been on a tree for several years, as her dress had fallen apart. So amazing to know she has a twin. xxx
Love your decorations! Those oranges with cloves are one of my favorite scents. Plus, you're a woman after my own heart with all your candles!
ReplyDeletestunning!! and love the ginger bread house!!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone. I think if we get a couple of days with the house we will be doing well - who could resist it?
ReplyDeleteTracey - you knew he would be getting it didn't you?
Alli - I love candles all year round too.

Aww she looks like a proper old fairy. I bet my Mum still has the old fairy from my childhood, I will have to ask about it. Pea green over your fire as always lol.

Orange clove balls...haven't made those in years! Perhaps next year.
ReplyDeleteYour house looks so beautifully festive. A totally different feel to what we have here in Australia. James did such a gorgeous job on his nativity scene, and yes I agree the dolphin is a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at all your decorations!!! Thanks for the tour! I think this is the first year in ages I didn't do any cloves in oranges--I really miss the fresh citrusy smell!! (I could ALMOST smell yours!!!!!) Makes me happy.
ReplyDeletewhat marvellous pictures! you had me at the first one with the eye peeking through. your house looks lovely and festive. loved the chickens with the joy sign and i liked the dolphin included in the nativity. i too could smell the cloves as i passed over that particular picture. you take really beautiful photos.

ReplyDeleteLooks very festive! Oranges and cloves! Great idea. Have a merry week.
ReplyDeleteNice decs, Jacqui. I love the smell of oranges and cloves and the Robins are really cute.
ReplyDeleteThose crochet snowflakes have turned out great too.
Hope you're taking it easy up there this week.x
I loved nativity scenes as a kid, and still do! Is James learning any Gaelic now that you're on Lewis?
ReplyDeleteHi - thank you all.
ReplyDeleteV - thanks - you should ask your Mum :)
Tonya - yes that is all your do. I use a fine knitting needle or a dpn to poke holes in first, as the cloves can break if you put too much pressure on them.
They smell amazing - I love doing these. I might try an apple too, as in the Little House stories.
Kate, JTS I think the dolphin would have been there - lol
Lori - i love that view so much too and i love how it changes all the time The tide is going out in that picture.
Chris - thank you - have you been crocheting snowflakes too? lol
Laurie - Hi. james is learning Gaelic - he is at Croilegean, which is a gaelic medium playgroup. he is picking up lots of words - all of a sudden too. Chan eil is one i hear a lot (No!) ;)
Love and blessings to you all xxx
