Really from February onwards, there is a relentlessness about the Sun's movement. Already we are feeling the pull towards the outdoors - the lighter mornings and evenings lengthen the working days, weather permitting, of course, and there is a renewed strength in the quality of the light. The hens are laying, there are signs of growth, and I have lots of plans for the coming seasons.
Other things change too - our neighbour has built a new shed over the Winter, which you can see in the latest sunset picture.
It's hard to believe I am six months into this photo project already - the darkest months are over and I am looking forward to sharing the light half of the year now.

  1. Beautiful project. I feel drawn to the September shots each time. I'm looking forward to the lighter months too. This is the first time I have ever felt this way but with such an awful winter, I am just looking forward to a change. Have a great week x

  2. Outstanding photos! When I still owned the farm, I kept a journal, recording, once a week, the sun location. Many times I would be standing in the kitchen, looking through the window, just waiting for the sun to peek over the horizon.

  3. What a wonderful project, the photographs are stunning. Thank you so much for sharing. We visit the island regularly and it has been a dream for a long time to live there. We are finally making the step to fulfil our dreams, our home here will be up for sale shortly. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

  7. Oh, how I enjoyed these photos! I am thinking I might take on a similar project as I remember how low the sun seemed in a recent sunny day photo I took...nowhere as low as yours is mid day, but still. thanks for sharing. :)

  9. What a dramatic difference in the sun position at noon! I know that this is happening as I live through winter, but this really shows it.
