We may not have forests full of autumn colour here, but we can still enjoy the shades of the season all around us. The moor has a burnished glow that is just as glorious as any woodland right now. The grass and the shoreline are full of different shades of browns, golds and reds and oranges. The leaves of the potentilla are like a golden carpet, and mushrooms and fungi are appearing everywhere.
Mick and I are still walking this same route everyday. He has an ongoing excavation down by the shore - a rabbit hole, most likely. He spent a fair bit of time today, snuffling and scratching at it. I left him to it and wandered around. I saw a wren, and almost got a good shot of a buzzard (I think). I went to sit on my favourite rock, looking out to sea, and eventually Mick came and joined me. The wind was strong, and there was a fair bit of swell in the water, but the rain stayed away while we were out. It was a good walk.
I feel the same way about autumn here Jacqui, but I am really enjoying the cooler air on my walks. I'm glad you hear your walk with Mick was a good one.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful photos. Your dog must be in his glory with so much nature surrounding him!! I hope all is well with you and your family. Have a beautiful week ahead!! xo

Jacqui, I know, or suspect, that you've played around a bit with these photos. All the same, I do love them. Perhaps one of these days I will have in my own possession, the requreid equipment and technology, to play around with the visuals I send out from my own part of our wold.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I admired the images you've sent to us. Mick must be the sweet doggie whose ears I admired before. Please do remind him that he and his ears have a fan across the Pond.
As so you, dear Jacqui. Lots of love to you and yours. xo
Oh Jacqui, silly me. I tapped the wrong key. Meant to tell you, As do you.

Lovely picture of Mick! Looks like a lovely walk. Keeping you all in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, glad you and Mick had a great walk.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images Jacqui. We are so very excited about our visit to the island. We leave home late on Wednesday night and cannot wait for our first real glimpse of Lewis. Love your dog and hope our collie, Jake, loves it as much as Mick does.x
ReplyDeleteLove the first one of the grass...Autumn isn't just about brown!!
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is incredible! Spent yesterday cleaning out our community garden surrounded by the browns and golds of autumn. So refreshing after our week south in eternal summer. Jacket season again, I love it.
ReplyDeletelove your fall images, we are surrounded by woods and trees and I would love to have a sea shore view! I guess we like sometimes what we do not have.
ReplyDeleteI just love the last photo, of your dog next to you on the beach, in the wind. Lovely. I remember being puzzled when a friend from Harris talked about how lovely the "autumn colours" on the island were. (I've never been to the islands in the autumn or winter.) My first thought was, "But there aren't any trees!" However, through photographs, and being a bit more observant of the Scottish countryside generally, I came to realise that there certainly are autumn colours that bedeck the islands. Thanks for sharing them with us.
