The Visit

We loved having my sister and brother in law with us for a few days. They have been on a trip back to Scotland  from Canada, and I was so pleased that they were able to make it up to the island.
There aren't too many photos, but there were lots of cups of tea, good food, and chat around the kitchen table - a few trips out, visiting a special place and just generally relaxing in each other's company.  It was just so nice to be with someone who has known me all my life - I needed that... We also made some exciting plans for a holiday in Canada next year. I think James is ready to go right now!

glad you had a wonderful visit -- and how very exciting to think you'll be across to this side of the world next year!!!

  4. That is so nice. I'm really glad you were able to spend time together. Your brother-in-law looks like he could be the twin of a guy I knew in school, it's uncanny. I know my friend is an only child, but still...wow.

    2. ....depending on when the Scottish school holidays are compared to Wales! I have had a peaty week for a different reason. I am an Ecologist and am particularly involved with woodland creation. Any peat more than 50 cm deep can't be planted and so I have been sticking an auger into some local peat to check depths. I love peat and peat land plants and those lovely wigwams of hand dug pests drying out on the moors.

  8. How lovely to find something by accident that I'm immediately drawn into, for it's the Place of my Heart that I've visited but once (taking off my shoes as I stepped down from the tour bus), and that I've loved and longed for all my life.

Your writing and photos tell such a compelling story, and for you to be able to visit such a beautiful last harbour of your own Heart's Love---that's a blessing and a boon. Not even in the quietest green solitude of graceful stones, have I ever seen such a sacredly serene resting place.

I've joined your group, and will be back often to delve into your wonderful archives. I was suddenly left with three children, all under nine, when I was not-yet-thirty, and every step of your journey is familiar and remembered, yea these many decades later.

I hope you wonderful healing, gentle rest and sweet sleep, and a world of glorious memories.

From Margie in Toronto - just catching up also - so glad that you had a wonderful visit with your family - I had to smile at James in his Blue Jays shirt as I'm sitting here watching the ballgame at the moment - it's tied 3 to 3. I hope that you will at least be close to Toronto so that he can perhaps go to a Jays game and visit the dome - I think he will be impressed.
