The ego has landed
You may remember this photograph from this post back in September. It was such a magical golden autumn day, and I took many photographs. I really loved this one, and I had many lovely comments about it.
Well, I entered it into a photography competition run by a Scottish public body, looking for Autumn pictures, and I received an email yesterday telling me it had been shortlisted for the final! The winner will be chosen by the public in an online poll.
But - what to do? Do I pass on the link to everyone on all my online haunts and ask them to vote for me? I could ask my family to gather together their facebook friends, work colleagues and all, to vote en masse for my little bark boat.
It doesn't seem right to do that, even though my ego is screaming 'GO FOR IT!' and telling me I am a fool for putting myself at such a disadvantage.
I am so delighted and astounded that my picture has been chosen - especially when it has such happy memories for me. I feel as if I have won already - the prize is really a nominal one.
So I won't pass on the link, but I will appease my ego by showing off the photograph again.
And it makes a pleasant change from all the snow.:)

I LOVE this photo and have told you several times!! It deserves to win an award. I completely understand your feelings. But I think you should pass on the link - all the other contestants will too. I would vote for it.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqui. It is a truly beautiful picture, its no suprise its been chosen! I think you are right to let the public vote, although I can see why you would consider the other option, no doubt others would. However it is very flattering just to be chosen and you should be very pleased with yourself! And thankyou for a very welcome relief from the snow, although its gone here, just mud mud mud!
ReplyDeleteA truly beautiful photograph! I would have voted for you!! I hope you do win, but as you say,the delight is having been chosen for the shortlist.
ReplyDeleteMust get of this computer and get to bed!!

i would certainly vote for you -- it seems a shame though that it's a public vote (where such goings-on as padding the vote will take place) and not one based on the merit of the photo -- which, in this case, is FREAKIN' OUTSTANDING!!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous, gorgeous picture....

HA!!
ReplyDeletenever underestimate the Power of Google.
off to vote for your piccie....*insert maniacal laughter here*

You're right, Jacqui ~ the photograph has already won. The image won your heart the day it was taken ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful, mellow autumn photo.....it's a shame if the bloggers who read your lovely blog don't get the chance to vote for you......it's so refreshing that you're so unassuming........I'm away to google to cast my vote.

Well done on the shortlist - truly a beautiful photograph.

Thank you all. I didn't think it would be searchable - oh dear. If you do find it, there are 5 photos on the shortlist. ;). xx
ReplyDeleteThat photo is very special and I would love the chance to vote for it! Please pass on the link - it's not being egotistical.
ReplyDeletego on pass on the link...it's a truly glorious picture!
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqui,
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly beautiful photo. I would vote for it if I knew where to vote! If it is left to the public t o vote, how can we if we don't the link? I understand your modesty, but what a thrill to be shortlisted. Well done!
It is a beautiful photo and it deserves to win, keeping my fingers crossed for you!! I admire you for your integrity in not posting the link, I just hope that the other shortlisters have been the same, because it's right that the public choose. Either way, feel very proud that you have got this far and let us know how you get on. xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a truly lovely photo. Congratulations. I would vote for you in a minute. This photo catches a magical moment. It leaves me wondering where this boat is travelling to and what adventures will it meet? Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHa! 4 clicks and I've been there and voted for you!
ReplyDeleteAnd although I was loyal to you, I wished I could have voted for them all, because each one has such a different spirit of autumn.
Well done!
Linda - I think you can vote for them all. It seems to accept multiple votes from the same pc. Maybe they have a way of picking up on that sort of thing. I hope so. It's why I felt I had already won, in a way, by getting into the shortlist.
ReplyDeleteI decided I would pass on the link to those who specifically asked, but please look at all the photos- they are all beautiful. I loved the one of the harvest.
Thank you all again for your support. xx
Dear Jacqui, thank you for sending me the link. I voted for you 500 times! Just kidding. As you say, all the photographs are stunning. I think with that sort of company, you should just feel hugely complimented to be chosen, and regard the actual outcome as a more minor consideration.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. Perhaps you could choose a middle road. Pass on the link with a message, here is the short list for XXXX. My photograph is one of those listed. While I would love to have your vote, please vote for your favorite.
ReplyDeleteSo you somewhat spread the news for all the shortlisted contestants and who could find anything egotistical about that!
And p.s., I think you have had enough comments asking for the link that you should not not let those uncomfortable (unnecessary) feelings keep you from providing it to us readers that ask! :)))
And now I will attempt to find it by search like some of the others!
Cheers Jacqui and seriously, you seem to be one of the least egotistical persons I've read.
I tried to google it with no success, I love your photo but would love to see the others as well to make my own mind up. I lost an internet competition once by 3 votes as I didn't have a blog, facebook etc, it was so disappointing to be so close on my own merit, I would have enjoyed the prize :(
ReplyDeleteYour photo is beautiful, I can't imagine it wouldn't win! The colors in the water, the little leaf boat, a picture of independence and journeys. I love it.
