Remains of the day.
As I go about the day, I often come across little scenarios that James has created. I love these still life representations of his imagination. Sometimes they are fairly obvious, sometimes unexpected and sometimes completely baffling, but always a delight. Here are some from today.

I love the carrot on the season shelf and the vehicle in the cutlery tray. So perfectly random and a reminder of how similar these little ones are even though never met.

ReplyDeletei'm forever finding similar 'remains' -- it makes cleaning up quite interesting....our houseplants often find themselves wearing miniature plastic sunglasses and you never know where a dinosaur might be lurking...

The carrot photo is hilarious. I love to see the evidence that my children are using those imaginations! You never know what you'll find.

It's amazing what things end up where and why. What goes through their mind to place these things in certain places, I think I will miss this when my youngest has grown older, even though it can be frustrating sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYes it is delightful and funny just now, but it does get a bit wearing when they are older.
ReplyDeleteClaire - Mary's donkey seems a likely explanation, but also we had talked about how we should be adding plants and living things to the table this week, but the snow is too deep and cold - a carrot is a good substitute :)
What a great post! I too find funny things all over. I have two girls... so usually I find amusing collections of things in purses, bags, and baskets. My favorite... although frustrating too... is asking the girls to pack a few toys for a day trip, only to find they've packed one stuffed animal, their play keys, a plastic animal, and a flashlight. I mean, what are you going to do with that? LOL!
ReplyDeleteMary Kate and Ashley Olsen sang "Imagination" set to the tune of Pachobel's Canon on one of their children's cd's a long time ago. I wish I could find the words or the song. I can imagine wonderful things, caves in the back yard, boats with wings,. . . laundry basket: racing car . . . and our imaginations will change the world some day. Etc.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. I keep a large tray here for some of our grandchildren when they visit, on which they arrange treasures. I never move anything - for they expect to find it as they left it when they next visit (maybe weeks later) - and the NEVER forget how it should be!
ReplyDeleteHow perfectly wonderful and endearing......my four children are grown up now but I well remember the day I discovered my downstairs toilet filled to the brim with dinky cars..........my three year old later informed me that all his cars were in the carwash......florrie x
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I love finding odd things everywhere! It's too funny, always the conversational fodder for dh and I to giggle over, you get glimpses of their unveiling personailites in these little snapshots of what they do, too cute.
