Just a quickie today, as I am sneaking off to a certain shop in town when a boy is otherwise occupied. I decided at the last minute to knit a pebble vest for my nephew. I have been inspired by all the lovely grey knits I have seen on Yarn Along lately, so I was delighted to see some grey Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran discounted at our fabulous local yarn store. Just the job. The cute gingerbread man stitch marker came from Emily - thank you xxx In fact, I have been overcome by a sudden need to knit more last minute presents. Why can't this happen in Ferbruary?
I am reading the latest Joel Salatin - Folks this just ain't normal. Man - he just hit the spot every time! I think I love him (in a very chaste and innocent way). His chapter on aeroplane food packaging, which I read last night, made me laugh out loud, while nodding furiously in agreement.
James and I have been reading Alison Uttley's Stories for Christmas. Just completely charming, and delightful. Full of magic and wonder.

It must be the season- I'm knitting another pair of Gansey mitts....on the round on a hedgehog looking set of needles....I hate seams!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely knitting Jacqui, gorgeous gingerbread man stitch marker too, I know what you mean about trying to squeeze in extra gift knitting, although I know full well there's just under two weeks till Christmas, I'm trying to convince myself that there's plenty of time left to knit an extra pair of socks and a tank top, no less.

You must be alot more organised than me to even contemplate squeezing in more knitting! I am just looking forward to doing things at a leisurely pace come the new year! Love the stitch marker, and that book... I'm going to have to try and reserve that at the library!

Love the vest!! Just when I think I might be done with my holiday knitting, I think of someone who "needs"!!! a handknit something. Probably won't end until the 24th!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading Joel's book too. He lives within a couple hours of me and my girlfriends and I are taking a trip up to see him and the family farm. Between Joel and my spicy friend Ruth we're in for an entertaining day.

I am having exactly the same problem with gift making. I was all sorted and the last week have found myself thinking "I could just make this, and one of those". With less than two weeks to go maybe I need to practise saying no!
