In other news...

There has been the most amazing result in the Grneral Election. The Scottish National Party took 56 of the 59 Scottish seats. After the disappointment of the Referendum result, this is an incredible outcome. Although it is - and can never be enough to form a government It means there will be a strong voice for Scotland in Westminster, and also for those in the UK who woke up on Friday feeling very upset and disenfranchised at the thought of five more years of austerity cuts. These 56 fine men and women will not be afraid to speak out against the unjust policies planned by the Tories. It's going to be an interesting time.

  1. So pleased for Scotland right now, although I fear you may be about to get an influx of English migrating across the border ;-) x

  2. I think it was amazing, and it's going to give us a very interesting five years - but it's been a great election, who'd have thought we'd have a majority government of any party!

  4. I agree it will be a very interesting five years. On a side note from the stocks and shares point of view in Canada, ours went up as a result of the election results in Britain.

  6. Jacqui, as I listened to UK election BBC coverage over my laptop, and the shape of the results began to take form, I thought of you and other folks in Scotland. This has been a momentous election. Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts with us.

As always, I send my best wishes to you and yours. xo

The word "momentous" is so true. It will be very interesting to see what happens next! Really happy for you and your family, as I know you worked so hard for a Yes vote and must have been crushed by the Referendum result. You deserve some good news!

  8. So delighted for you and Scotland! Devolution has been very very interesting. Worrying times for Ireland though as we are very dependent on the UK trade and would like to see a continuation of UK status in Europe. Hope all is well and hopefully with you.x

  9. The SNP vote is probably the sole good thing to have come out of the election, it seems to us, from here in France. I only hope they can, indeed, make strong, effective noises against so called bloody 'austerity'. Maybe getting close to a UDI declaration moment. I hope so..... Sorry to learn of the illness etc., hope all goes well on that worrying front.
