Knitting and reading

Knitting a hat for James, to match a lovely jacket his Aunt sent for his birthday.   He's not very keen on wearing hats, as they are too itchy, but this one is made from Yak yarn, which is very soft. The pattern is Fisher and incorporates a simple cable, which I can just about manage.
On kindle, I'm reading The Crone, by Barbara G Walker - well known for her knitting books as well as her work on feminist mythology and spirituality. What a fine combination indeed.
I'm also dipping into The Waste Land and other poems by T.S. Eliot.

  1. I've been thinking about you with all the heavy rain in the UK. Hoping that you are safe on your island.

  2. Yak yarn? I must see about finding some, I've never seen any here. My boys didn't like hats either when they were younger, now they wear them all the time.

  3. Love the colorway as well as the cables of your beanie. My guys and especially my 15 yo girl are all picky about beanies and the yarn I use. Yak, huh? Never seen any but will have to when I've knitted through much of my stash...

  10. Wish I could knit like that. The only knitting I have done is in the car on long holiday journeys but now I am driver that might mean an end to half finished jumpers! Felting is more my thing and I need to get some presents made. Maybe this evening as there are 6 loud teenage girls downstairs and I have retreated to my bedroom with Fern, my little collie pup to have a quiet celebration, as I have just been accepted as a chartered Forester by the Institute after by Edinburgh interview. Have a peaceful time as Christmas approaches. Love Ali x

  14. What a coincidence! Just a few days ago my friend advised me to read The Waste Land and other poems by T.S. Eliot. I have already forgot about it, but here it is your post about this book. Now I'm obliged to read it.
