Happy Birthday to my Summer Baby

My elder son Kenneth is 20 today! I no longer have any teenage children - oh my!
This year though - we are far apart - he in Edinburgh, and we on Lewis, so we were unable to celebrate with him in person.  Phone calls, texts, video messaging and tweets were a poor substitute.  The birthday family lunch did not include John, James and I this year, but the rest of the family were there. I hope they enjoyed themselves and kept me a slice of the cake.
This picture of of our 14 year old collie, Robbie - who is really Kenneth's dog.  He was asking for a picture of Robbie yesterday and says he misses him the most. I don't believe that for a moment - but here he is doddering down the drive at the croft house - Robbie the Lion Dog.
Happy Birthday, Summer Boy - thank you for always making me smile. Miss you xxx
xx

  7. As a complete stranger/outsider, I have to say that although I feel for you- it must have been hard for you, but how wonderful that the rest of the family still got together! Believe me, that doesn't happen in every family!
That probably doesn't make you feel any better :(
Love the photo of his beautiful friend! How is Robbie liking the crofting life?

  8. What a beautiful dog your son has and how nice you get to doggie sit. I hope you have a chance to eat your piece of birthday cake and hug your family soon. I only have one teen left and that time is flying by quicker than I would like. Thinking of you and wishing you happiness.xx

  9. Yes it was nice that they still met up for lunch, but I think the cake will be gone. Still good excuse for another one in August ;)
And of course - we will have another teenager in around 8 years time...
Robbie is loving the croft life Megg. he had a skin infection last year, you may recall and i really think the fresh sea air has been good for him. His sight is very bad now, and his hearing, but he does have a good quality of life depsite that.
CW - of course you are right - i always spend a lot of time on my children's birthdays, recalling the actual event - for the birth is only one part of a whole lifetime.
Thank you all for such sweet comments.
    xx

I completely understand the doggie thing. Hey, birthdays of the children are significant anniversaries for the parents, so.... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY of your First Born Son !
