A big decision

One I had been putting off for a couple of years, but things were getting beyond my control, so when James surprisingly agreed, then we decided to go for it.

So we visited Kristine's friend, Louise, in her shop in the town.
He sat beautifully still...

all the way through, like a perfect angel.

A bit unsure here - such a drastic change for a wee boy.

But not for long - a few minutes later, he was laughing and playing in the woodland park.

"See how fast I can run without all that hair, Mum!"
 Ah well...

  3. Wow, James looks like a different kid. More streamlined.

He can always grow it long again Jacqui :-)

  4. It's a sure sign they are growing up when they have their hair short! Hmmm, perhaps that's why my lot tend to be on the longer side!

  5. The big boy hair cut! You know he looks so adorable with his longer hair and then even more adorable with short because the focus is all on his face now.

  7. Oh gosh he looks so different, glad he likes it. I shall miss seeing those long curls though ;-)

He'll need a nice woolly hat to keep his head warm now for the Winter, something for mama to craft for him maybex

  12. gosh what a big step! I still remember my no2 son's first haircut. He sat absolutely still with his chin on his chest - then we realised he had tears streaming down his face. When it was all over he got out of the chair and picked up the hair and tried to put it back on his head! Not even a kiss from the hairdresser would console him. But I think it was me who was the most traumatised, he has forgotten all of it - I haven't. And he would probably go through it all again now for a kiss form the hairdresser (he's 24)

  14. He looks just adorable ! Funny, we are doing the opposite at the moment, we always had jamie´s hair so short and now we´re letting it grow longer :) , it´s certainly easier to look after when it´s short! What a big step for you that must be thoigh!!

  15. I'm not looking forward to Little Man's first haircut...I want him to grow out his hair for a bit and I'll cut it when he's older.

I will say, though, that your Little Man is quite adorable and I'm glad he was a good boy during his haircut.

  16. What a big deal for my both mama and boy. Looks like the new 'do suits him, and heck if it makes him run faster. It took a long time for me to cut my youngest's hair. He is adorable.

  17. Oh, what a sweet milestone. I can remember both of my boys' first haircuts. It makes them look so "big"!

James looks so handsome with his new haircut!

  18. What memories that brings back. When Cory was little we had the hardest time deciding to cut his hair. Those beautiful brown curls! He was 3 when we finally gave him his first 'big boy' haircut. He was over last night wearing his woodsman look. His hair has gotten long and wild, and he informed me that it's no-shave November. Hmm.

Sooo, good to be back. And I coveted your prayers... Thanks. :)

    Blessings, Debbie

  20. That is indeed quite momentous. I echo Dawn in saying that his mum will need to knit him a hat - not that you will need encouraging!
Pity you're so far away - otherwise I would enlist you to teach me to knit...

I love short hair on boys! Here, at the end of spring, all the little boys get their crew cuts and they are just so adorable Jacqui!

  23. ah that's so cute! did he really say that? lol.. i love the way kid's think. we just cut a few inches off ezra's hair as well, but the last time i gave him such a drastic cut he cried and cried. your boy looks adorable though (albeit mine did too with the short crop - but, still it was too much for him).

  24. You did well Benedict had his first big boy hair cut at fifteen months, he looked so grown up!

Speed running with a short hair cut, such a philosophical take on things and a character trait to be nurtured, I'd say!

Hugs to you mama for being brave too.

    Love and smiles San xx

  27. Oh, how much did he age in that one day??? Beautiful little boy. And how is mama feeling when she catches glimpses off guard? Still missing my boys locks, can't you tell.....

  28. Lol - thanks everyone. I keep catching sight of a sleek blond head and my heart flutters - who is that boy? It is just so different. He looks - lighter - as Chis says - streamlined. It is shorter than I meant it to be, but it really needed a good shape. He likes it though, and hasn't stopped running around since. xxx

  34. I have to admit, I openly exclaimed "OH NO! Not a hair cut!!" (which caused my husband to stare at me), but I have to say James looks wonderful! And so grown up!
