Leaving a light in the window
Because I will be away for a few days. Off down to Edinburgh for a solo jaunt, catching up with the rest of the family. Looking forward to seeing Kenneth after a few months, and spending a lovely day with Karen, Finlay and Erin at the Country Living Christmas fair, lunching with Dad and then heading back home.
And - I will be staying in an hotel - on my own! How exciting is that? I feel really quite grown up.
I will be back here at the weekend with lots of photographs - see you all then.
And don't forget to enter my little giveaway, if you haven't already. xxxx

Have a lovely time. I'm sure you will. In Sweden, over winter when it's dark, cold and snowy, there is a custom of leaving small wattage lights burning 24/7 at windows around the houses. It's a lovely sight in the depths of winter, sparkling in the cold snowy countryside. Probably originates as a safety beacon of sorts for stranded/lost travellers in the snowy wilderness where a guiding light towards safety and shelter could have been life-saver.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonder filled trip. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned for your trip! Looking forward to seeing your pictures when you return. Safe Travels!

I love staying in a hotel on my own, that is a holiday in itself. I had to stay in one a little more upmarket than I normally when I landed in Cologne after the touristy information places had closed and really thought it was wasted on me alone. However I did love it and it was such a treat as I normally stay in inexpensive B&Bs when I go off walking with a rucksack (can hardly call it backpacking nowadays).
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great break.
Have a wonderful time I will miss you! Looking forward to your megga picture post when you get back.

ReplyDeleteOooo, the big city! That would be so much fun, to live on an island, but have the chance to travel back and forth a bit. Just so you can appreciate it even more when you return home.
