The colours of Autumn this week have been mostly grey, shot with silver
Pale sunsets in monotones
and rainbow brightened days
We have gathered late harvests;
and re-built the Titanic - totally unsinkable this time;
met some exacting housekeeping standards
Visited a wonderful local museum. Saw so many ideas for our barn kitchen, and remarked on how some tool construction cannot be bettered -
and found design inspiration in some unlikely places!
We enjoyed some evening company
and a night out too :)
Now we are making preparations for the coming storm - making sure our seedlings are safe in the shed, the bins are secure and the lifeboat is safely moored in the ditch. Usual stuff for here, mind you.
And making sure that we have something to occupy ourselves when it is just too wet to go out. ;)

What a lovely set of photos - hope you weather the storm OK - even down here in our soft southern holding we have had storms and lost a chestnut tree and nearly lost an espalier apple. It is something to do with the dry weather early in the spring apparently, which weakened the trees.

ReplyDeleteThinking of you in this stormy time. The weather in Oxfordshire is very wet and windy but i am sure it's nothing to what you have up there.

Lol - I am feeling a bit of a fraud now, as it has turned out to be a very calm and warm day here. i know folks further South are getting some wind and rain. Still, it is better to be warned and prepared than caught out. We all remember the great BBC mis-forecast.

ReplyDeleteShipping pallets are great to reuse - the wood just stays around forever! We created a compost bin out of several and it is very sturdy. Love the pictures of autumn coming your way.

Well - the storms stayed away from the Island, for a change. it turned out to be a nice day - bit rainy, but still. Hope everyone else further SOuth was safe.
ReplyDeleteAnnie - i am trying out some winter green stuff this year, as it is a bit milder here than where I used to live, but I don't have a greenhouse. I am going to post about it soon.
