A lot of wind and showers this week, making the views blurry and rain splattered.
But there are always the rainbows...
and we can find some colour inside - finishing off on some long over due crafty projects -
starting new ones, and planning the next. Noticing how the colours of this Harris Tweed come straight from the landscape.
We never lack colour on the island - it surrounds us, even on these misty days
Indeed, colour is all around us.
Even down at the shore - we paddle along the golden peaty river -
and see that the sand looks a little bit browner than it did in the Summer. The only footprints are ours, today, but the Autumn winds are beginning to uncover the stones again, as the dunes shift and change.
I know that last week, I mentioned a new arrival - but this is not it. He is a very fine fellow though, isn't he? No, I am afraid you will have to wait another few days for the reveal!

Oh, how I love those shaggy highland cows! All that extra fur turns a cow into a cuddly animal.
ReplyDeleteOooh I do miss views similar to that; very reminiscent of my childhood when I lived on the moors back in South yorkshire.. well not the sea and sand of course lol, but the heather and the fog and rain driving over the moorlands. It could look incredibly bleak and forbidding...... yet also wildly beautiful.

ReplyDeletelove the rainbow and the wellies. autumn is my favorite season ... i love the color in it and the movement of nature! the celt in me loves a bit of wind that actually moves the trees. we had some today and i feel full up tonight.

ReplyDeleteLovely pictures as ever, weather like that makes me feel all cozy, snuggling up under a blanket with something to craft! Either that or the exhausted feeling from being out in the wind and all that fresh air (and then spending an hour trying to detangle my hair LOL)

ReplyDeleteGZ - the colours do indeed come from the land, but it is a phrase I used to just take at face value. Sometimes though,itbecomesblindingly obvious. Since I have been working a bit with tweed, I see the patterns everywhere.

Thanks for these beautiful photos. I know what you mean about the connection between the tweed colours and the landscape. I wish I could have spent more time at the photography exhibit in An Lanntair this summer that showed where the dyes come from.

BBTS - sometimes it is nice to have an excuse to stay in - not for too long though.

ReplyDeleteLove your update on how autumn is progressing with you. Is there a technical knack to posting the 3 smaller photos in a nice line? I have tried to do this but failed. I am disenchanted with Blogger recently, plus have very little time for blogging, so not a good combination!
I did however succumb to a copy of Country Living for October. Perhaps because it's one of the few magazines on the shelf that isn't encased in plastic and can therefore be looked through before buying!
